Unveiling "John Brown's Body" Community Arts Initiative

We'll showcase His Truth is Marching On, a short musical documentary film, and a music video of John Brown's Body, 2022 Mix—a remake of the popular civil war song written about Torrington-born abolitionist John Brown.

Event schedule:

• 6:00 p.m. opening reception with finger food, wine, beer, and soft drinks.
• 7:00 p.m. Dr Louis A DeCaro Jr. on John Brown’s passion for equality
• 7:15 p.m. musical documentary: His Truth Is Marching On
• 7:45 p.m. Dr Gabriel Löfvall, of Chorus Angelicus on American music history
• 8:00 p.m. Music Video: John Brown's Body, 21st century remix
• 8:15 p.m. closing reception: coffee and cookies, meet the artists.

Admission is free, private donations are enthusiastically encouraged. Proceeds will benefit

• Friends in Service to Humanity
• Torrington Soup Kitchen
• Susan B Anthony project
• United Way overflow shelter.

As Torrington builds it's arts presence, this project illustrates how the arts can build the community.
