Unreel, a play by renowned Māori playwright Helen Pearse-Otene is coming to our community centre Te Tūhunga Rau on Wednesday 2 October, 1.30pm and 7pm. Unreel tells a compelling story of a community affected by gambling.
Te Rākau are New Zealand’s longest running Māori Theatre company, founded by stage and screen veteran, Jim Moriarty. The play was developed in Te Rākau's unique Theatre Marae process, with a cast of 16 from a range of ages and backgrounds. After the performance the company holds a kōrerō with the audience for reflections and questions.
