Unmasking Workshop

(Un)Masking is a celebration and honouring of one's authentic self, the journey towards one's authentic self, and the universal experience of being in the not knowing of one's authentic self.

Art-making will include mask making - through decorating masks, we will explore external and internal expression of self. Through this process we will look at feelings and experiences related to being perceived and being misperceived by outside viewers. You will be given access to a wide range of art supplies in the art studio.

We will cover information and content around Spoon Theory, exhaustion and burnout in relation to masking (conversations will include Autistic Burnout specifically as well), meltdowns and shutdowns, safe(r) places and people (and what the heck these even are?), and exploring what accessible unmasking looks like for each of us.

This work shop is shaped from a Neurodivergent-affirming, Identity-affirming and Trauma-informed lens.

Snacks and beverages will be available (included in the pricing), and art supplies / materials will all be made available (also included in the pricing).

Info: Soft start means that we won't officially get started with the event / workshop until 1:15 PM. This gives folks a chance to show up and arrive, get oriented to the space, move around the space, reflect and connect with others, grab snacks and beverages, etc.
