About this Event
Join us for a special Halloween-themed Therapeutic Art Workshop where creativity meets healing! In this session, we’ll explore the power of art to face and overcome personal fears by creating your own mask—both as a physical art piece and as a symbol of self-discovery.
Using a variety of materials provided, participants will design and paint masks that represent their inner strengths and the fears they wish to confront. As we embrace the transformative energy of Halloween, this workshop will offer a safe space for reflection, creative expression, and the opportunity to let go of limiting beliefs
All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own painting shirt or apron.
Whether you’re looking to express yourself creatively or find a new way to process emotions, this workshop will help you unmask your fears and discover hidden courage through art. No previous experience needed—just come with an open mind and a willingness to explore!
About Facilitator: Verna Vogel
I was born and spent my childhood in rural Ontario, and have since lived in cities across Canada and abroad.
I completed the Studio Arts Foundation Program at Capilano University in Vancouver BC, where I studied painting with Marcus Bowcott and Nancy Boyd, sculpture with George Rammell, and printmaking with Wayne Eastcott. With funding assistance from the BC Centre for International Education, I then studied overseas for one year, completing the 3rd Year Fine Arts Program at the Malaysian Institute of Art in Kuala Lumpur, with a focus on Chinese Ink Painting.
I have maintained a committed studio practice for over twenty years, and have exhibited my work in public and commercial galleries across Canada. My artworks can be found in collections in Canada, the USA, Europe and Malaysia.
In addition, I teach art-making processes and facilitate ways of seeing, working with adults and with students in public and private schools, through various avenues including Artist-in-Residence programs.
I am currently based in Calgary AB, where I continue to actively create and exhibit my work, and to engage with growing young minds through art.
