About this Event

This full-day summit will provide a practical roadmap for identifying, evaluating, and acquiring Landbank properties. Participants will learn about the application process, financing options for rehabilitation or new construction, construction requirements and review, utility coordination, and the steps needed to successfully return properties to productive use.

The summit is designed for residents, emerging and experienced developers, contractors, investors, nonprofits, and community partners.

Registration is limited to the first 100 attendees. Priority will be given to Louisville Metro and Kentucky residents. Registration may open to individuals outside Kentucky if space remains available.

Host: Dr. Ferguson, Chair, Louisville Landbank;

Info: The Landbank Board Chair and Executive Director will share their perspectives on vacant and abandoned properties, affordable housing, community revitalization, and the role of the Landbank Board. The discussion will also provide insight into the developer journey and the opportunities and challenges involved in transforming vacant properties into productive community assets.

Finding the Right Opportunity
Host: Tia Bowman, Executive Administrator

Info: The Landbank team will provide an overview of Landbank-owned properties and available development programs. The discussion will highlight opportunities for single-property, small-scale, and large-scale developers, as well as the required application documents, closing documents, and overall closing process.

Site Development: Zoning, Construction, and What Is Allowed
Host: Joel Docker, Planning Manager

Info: Expert speakers will provide guidance on zoning, historic preservation, brownfield considerations, construction review, and development requirements. Participants will learn what may be built on a particular lot, applicable construction and material standards, and how to move a project from an approved concept through completion.

Info: Attendees will have the opportunity to visit resource tables, connect with participating agencies and community partners, ask questions, and gather information about available programs, services, and development resources. Light refreshments or lunch may be enjoyed during this time.

Info: The panel will feature developers who have completed projects involving Landbank properties. Panelists will share their experiences, lessons learned, and recommendations for future applicants.

Speakers will discuss project costs, Landbank proof-of-funding requirements, the Small Developer Loan Program through the Office of Housing and Community Development, and available mortgage and lending resources.
