The University Wind Ensemble presents an afternoon of lively, yet meditative works with themes of motion. The program includes Bakhari S. Nokuri’s Afrospire, a composition that encourages us to keep going through its Afro-Cuban rhythms and grooves, and Omar Thomas’ Forward/Still, a reflection on uncertainty, resilience, and the idea that standing still is not an option. Malcolm Arnold’s Four Scottish Dances completes the program with traits derived from Scottish folk music.
