Don’t miss this one-day conference for arts groups and artists focused on engaging people with disabilities in the arts!
Raleigh Arts is pleased to restart this one-day training after a seven-year hiatus. Inspired by The Kennedy Center’s national Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disability Conference (LEAD®), which Raleigh Arts hosted in 2022, Universal Access & the Arts Day highlights trends and best practices in the arts for engaging Deaf and disability communities.
Keynote Address: Betty Siegel, nationally recognized accessibility leader and Director of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Office of Accessibility and VSA.
Universal Access & the Arts Day also represents an opportunity to hear from local organizations doing strong work in the field such as Arts Access, Artspace, Marbles Kids Museum and the North Carolina Museum of Art.
The day will end with a screening of the acclaimed documentary “Code of the Freaks”. Produced by disability arts scholar Carrie Sandahl, this work thoughtfully and thought-provokingly explores disability representation in film.
Event registration includes a networking lunch provided by Raleigh Arts.
