About this Event

United for Human Rights Conference 2026

The United for Human Rights Conference 2026 is a two-day advocacy-focused gathering in Washington, DC, hosted by Youth for Human Rights International in celebration of its 25th Anniversary, in collaboration with the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights.

This milestone conference brings together human rights practitioners, veterans’ advocates, and policy-focused leaders committed to advancing meaningful change through education, advocacy, and civic engagement.

Held at iconic national landmarks, the conference provides delegates with a rare opportunity to engage directly in discussions on human rights advocacy, veterans’ rights, and anti-trafficking legislation, while gaining practical insight into how advocacy translates into action within the U.S. legislative system.

The conference opens on February 27 in the U.S. Congress at the Rayburn Office Building, where delegates will take part in a structured conference program addressing current challenges and strategies related to human rights protection, legislative advocacy, and public policy.

The conference will also welcome Dr. Mary Shuttleworth, President of Youth for Human Rights International, and will mark the launch of her annual World Educational Tour. For the past 20 years, Dr. Shuttleworth has traveled worldwide each year to impart human rights education and expand global awareness initiatives.

The day also includes an official group photo session on the Capitol grounds and a private guided tour of the U.S. Capitol, offering delegates a deeper understanding of the institution where laws are shaped.

Following the Capitol experience, delegates may choose to join an optional Delegates Networking Dinner, designed as an informal American-style dinner where delegates can connect, exchange perspectives, and build relationships in a relaxed setting. Transportation from the Capitol to the dinner venue is available as part of a paid add-on experience.

On February 28, the program continues with the Human Rights Advocacy & Public Engagement Training, led by Dr. Isabelle Vladoiu, Founder of the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights and DC Human Rights Commissioner. This is a practical training on conducting effective human rights advocacy through awareness-building initiatives—such as educational outreach, petition drives, community events, and public walks—alongside advocating for human rights legislation. Venue: Founding Church of Scientology, Washington DC (1424 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20036). Upon completion of the training, delegates will receive a Certificate of Participation for the training and Summit.

In the afternoon of Day 2, the conference concludes with a practical advocacy component, including petition signing and a Human Rights Walk to the White House, symbolizing collective commitment to civic engagement and peaceful advocacy.

The United for Human Rights Conference 2026 is ideal for:

  • Human rights advocates and practitioners
  • Veterans and veterans’ rights supporters
  • Anti-trafficking advocates
  • Students and professionals interested in policy and legislative advocacy
  • Community leaders seeking practical advocacy experience

This event combines education, experience, and engagement in the heart of Washington, DC—offering delegates not just conversation, but a clearer understanding of how advocacy works in practice.

NOTE: The United for Human Rights Conference 2026 is a locally focused, in-person conference designed primarily for participants based in the United States, due to its venues, format, and program activities. While we do not restrict participation based on nationality if an individual is already able to travel to the United States, please note that this event does not provide visa invitation letters or documentation, and given the current timeline, there is not sufficient time to support visa processing for international travel related to this conference.
