This is a night for families to come and be a part of the first ever unite@night in Acworth. This is a casual 1 mile walk with some surprises along the way for the kids.
This festival we hope will help bring awareness and raise support for The Bobby Jones Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation.
In April of 2021 our world stopped and time stood still as our now 15 year old son, was diagnosed with the rare brain disorder; Chiari Malformation 1 along with Syringomyelia.
It was a race against time to find answers as our son was at the peak of his adolescence. We had no resources and had never heard of all this! After lots of research and finding The Bobby Jones Foundation we were connected to a surgeon who could help.
In February of this year , our son underwent a 5 hour brain surgery to help alleviate his debilitating symptoms that were impacting his everyday life. The hope and support from The Bobby Jones Foundation allowed us to find a DR who understood our sons condition.
There is no cure for Chiari & Syringomyelia . However , there is help, hope and a wealth of resources through the organization.
The unite@night is a collection of one-mile, casual walks/events around the country that bring together people who are living with the devastating effects of Chiari malformation, syringomyelia, EDS, and related disorders. unite@night will support Bobby Jones CSF to provide education, support, and increase awareness, while funding advocacy work and research projects that can potentially find answers to help those who are fighting these disorders.
It is a very lonely road to walk with a rare disorder. However, there is hope and help. There can be more hope and help with financial support and information each year that can be raised.
We want to celebrate and support this organization that we are so passionate about and help bring awareness to our community.
