The League of Women Voters of Lee County & Community Partners invite the public to its “Unite & Rise for Voting Rights” Day of Action event on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers, Florida from 12:30-2:30. We are proud to host a special screening of the documentary *With a Made Up Mind: The History of the Black Vote in Southwest Florida*. Join us for this powerful look into our local history as we commemorate the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act and discuss the ongoing importance of civic participation. Engage with the League of Women Voters of Lee County, Inc. and community partners on this nationwide day of action to commemorate the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA), and to collaborate to Get Out The Vote (GOTV), promote civic participation and informed voting, and to build ongoing connections.
Leagues and partners will lead hundreds of activations across the country centered on increasing voter engagement, turnout, and education, with particular emphasis on young voters and community partnerships.
