A FREE Mother’s Day celebration in Union Square Park presented by Union Square Alliance and Amazon in partnership with the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development and Community Challenge Grants, and San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department.

Event Details: A gathering to celebrate the women who have shaped our lives. Enjoy Salsa music & dance instruction, flowers, gourmet bites, and a spritz bar by Tyler Florence’s Miller & Lux Provisions and a runway show, featuring couturier Collen Quen’s designs inspired by Union Square in Bloom, including the Dahlia Gown. About the Fashion Show: Starting at 4:30 p.m., there will be a runway couture fashion show with designs by renowned San Francisco-born Chinese American couturière, Colleen Quen, including the notable Dahlia Gown created for Union Square in Bloom. This portion is sponsored by Union Square's legacy business and iconic San Francisco institution, Britex Fabrics. This establishment has special sentimental value for Colleen, who fondly remembers accompanying her mother to Britex as a child, igniting her passion for fashion design. Colleen's trajectory has been marked by a decade-long design career for prominent brands like Wilkes Sport, Eileen West, Gap, and more. Her couture designs are inspired by nature's motifs, portraying the delicate blossoming of flowers and the quiet beauty of butterflies. This year’s muse is Catherine Liang, Miss California 2022, a former Miss Chinatown.

About Union Square in Bloom: Established in 2022, Union Square in Bloom celebrates the district's floral legacy with a modern twist. For decades, flowers, particularly daffodils, were handed out to visitors walking through Maiden Lane, an alleyway with historic appeal. Macy's previously hosted its annual flower show, established in 1964, and several flower stands brightened up the district.

Union Square in Bloom commemorates the floral legacy of Union Square while encouraging residents, workers, and visitors to rediscover and patronize our vibrant, full-circle offerings of hotels, restaurants, retail establishments, theater, fashion, cuisine, nightlife, and beyond.

Presenting the 2024 Bloom Passport: Make a day of it in the Square, download and print a copy of the Bloom Passport, your guide to exploring the many floral installations across the district. This is a fun opportunity to discover and support local businesses. Visit as many locations as you can between now and August 17th. Each location has a QR code. Scan the code to reveal a mystery word and jot it down in your passport. Return your passport at the Bloom Finale event August 17th for a chance to enter the raffle and win a $500-valued prize.
