Welcome all to our first event of Ungu Capoeira (in a loooong time) in Pōneke Wellington, hosted by Instrutora Esperança!
Our Mestrando Pererê will be here for a weekend of rodas, workshops, music and all the good things our capoeira events bring - food, bate papo with people who love what you love, seeing old friends...
Mestrando Pererê is the leader of our school, guide in capoeira, and friend who we dearly miss here in Wellington since he left to build Ungu Capoeira in Brisbane in 2016. This is a really special opportunity to learn from him.
Capoeiristas from all schools welcome - we love to share and connect with others through capoeira.
General plan is:
Friday 21st:
6pm start - workshop and roda
Aro Valley Community Centre
Then go for dinner in town somewhere.
Saturday 22nd:
9am start - workshops and batizado/troca de cordas
Pukerua Bay (Scout Den, end of Kotipu Place)
Ungu students - friends and family are encouraged to come along to the troca de cordas and see what it is you do every Monday! Time TBD but likely in the afternoon.
Lunch provided. Dinner and evening jams at mine in Pukerua Bay, some kind of shared kai situation/pot luck.

For the Saturday day we will provide lunch at the venue, some delicious concoction of rice and beans and other yummy things. If you have dietary requirements please let me know.
Accommodation: we have a few options of accommodation with our students, (or a tent in my backyard), so please get in touch as soon as you can if you are wanting a place to stay.
Transport for Saturday: Pukerua Bay is on the train line. In fact, my house is right on the train line, so easy access for those using public transport.
About Pukerua Bay: Pukerua Bay is also the centre of the wonderful universe. You can walk 15 minutes to the beach if you want an early morning mid-winter dip!

Friday and Saturday: $80
Friday only: $25
Saturday only: $60
Full event for Ungu seniors (Friday, Saturday, Sunday): $100

As with anything I do in capoeira, price should never be a barrier. If it feels like this, just talk to me (Kate Esperança), cos everyone should be able to access capoeira and our wonderful community.
