About Unfruitful Times (Ölü Mevsim)
After a heartbreaking miscarriage, Nimet—a middle-aged woman living in conservative Istanbul—finds herself trapped in a cycle of grief and silence. Her younger sister, Öznur, struggles with her own hidden pain as both women try to survive under the weight of societal expectations.
Doğuş Algün’s Unfruitful Times is a powerful and intimate portrait of womanhood, sisterhood, and resilience in the face of loss. Through restrained storytelling and evocative imagery, the film explores how trauma lingers in the quietest corners of everyday life.
