Le Festival International du Film Black de Montréal (FIFBM) est honoré et ravi d’annoncer que SPIKE LEE, cinéaste et producteur oscarisé, est le président d’honneur de sa 20e édition. Créé par la Fondation Fabienne Colas, le 20e Festival International du Film Black de Montréal aura lieu du 25 au 29 septembre 2024 – en personne et en ligne.
Coïncidant avec les 35 ans de la sortie de Do the Right Thing et célébrant ses 45 ans de carrière, le Festival International du Film Black de Montréal présentera une conversation intime avec Spike Lee lors de son gala d’ouverture le 25 septembre 2024, à 19h30 à L’Olympia. Animée par Fabienne Colas, fondatrice du Festival, la conversation suivra une rétrospective vidéo de la carrière de Spike Lee, qui mettra en lumière sa contribution exceptionnelle à l’industrie cinématographique et sa volonté constante de redéfinir le rôle des talents noirs à l’écran et hors de l’écran. Les billets réguliers et VIP sont désormais disponibles sur le site web du festival.
Spike Lee a considérablement façonné l’avenir du cinéma en repoussant les limites de l’innovation, en explorant divers genres et formes, et en abordant des sujets qui donnent à réfléchir et qui remettent en question le statu quo. Il a transformé le paysage du cinéma indépendant et redéfini le rôle des talents noirs dans l’industrie cinématographique. Ses films sont des commentaires socio-politiques audacieux qui remettent en question les préjugés culturels, en abordant non seulement la question de la race, mais aussi celle de la classe sociale et de l’identité sexuelle.

The Montreal International Black Film Festival (MIBFF) is honored and delighted to announce that SPIKE LEE,Academy-Award Winning Filmmaker and Producer, is the Honorary President of its 20th edition. Created by the Fabienne Colas Foundation, the 20th annual Montreal Intl Black Film Festival will take place from September 25 to 29, 2024 – in-person & online.
Coinciding with 35 years since the release of Do the Right Thing and celebrating his 45-year career, the Montreal Intl Black Film Festival will be presenting an Intimate Conversation with Spike Lee at its Opening Night Gala on September 25, 2024, 7:30 p.m.at L’Olympia. Hosted by the Festival’s founder Fabienne Colas, the conversation will follow a video retrospective of Lee’s career showcasing his outstanding contribution to the film industry and his consistent pursuit of redefining the role of Black talent off and on screen. Spike Lee has significantly shaped the future of cinema by pushing the boundaries of innovation, exploring diverse genres and forms, and tackling thought-provoking subjects that challenge and disrupt the status quo. He has transformed the landscape of independent cinema and redefined the role of Black talent in the film industry. His movies are bold socio political commentaries that challenge cultural assumptions, addressing not only race but also class and gender identity.
