Underworld Fall Session: First Practice
Every great derby journey starts with a single lap.
This is where you'll begin building the skills, confidence, and friendships that make roller derby unlike any other sport. Whether your goal is to compete, officiate, volunteer, or simply challenge yourself with something new, Underworld is designed to help you succeed.
First Practice
Thursday, August 13
6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Open to everyone ages 7 and up. All genders, all experience levels, and all backgrounds are welcome. If you're willing to learn, there's a place for you here.
During your first practice, you'll start developing the fundamentals that every derby athlete needs, including:
Skating skills and balance
Safe falling and stopping techniques
Agility and endurance
Roller derby basics and game concepts
Teamwork, communication, and confidence on the track
You'll be coached by experienced Dallas Derby Devils skaters and officials in a supportive, encouraging environment where questions are welcomed and progress is celebrated. No one is expected to know everything on day one, we're here to help you grow every step of the way.
More than anything, Underworld is about becoming part of a community. You'll meet people who will cheer you on, help you improve, and welcome you into a league that believes roller derby is for everyone.
No gear? No experience? No problem. Just wear comfortable athletic clothing, bring a water bottle, and come ready to have fun.
