Topic: How the Ukraine War Is Reshaping Europe and NATO
The University of Toledo and the Toledo Public Library present Understanding the World. Gain fresh insights into the events transforming our world; from power and politics to conflict and culture.
In a world no longer dominated by a single superpower, this program will cover the rise of multiple centers of global influence and how nations work together, and compete, on the world stage.
This session is presented by Associate Professor Shingi Mavima, UToledo HIstory Department and Boitshoko Molefhi, Ph.D. Student, UToledo History Department.
Shingi Mavima (Ph.D.) is a graduate of the African American and African program at Michigan State University. He specializes in contemporary Southern African (colonial and postcolonial) history, African literature, and popular culture. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Mavima holds a B.A in international relations from Grand Valley State University (Michigan,) and a Masters of International Affairs degree from Pennsylvania State University.
Boitshoko Molefhi is a doctoral student in history at The University of Toledo whose work focuses on African history, identity, and global political change. Originally from Botswana, Molefhi brings an international perspective shaped by his academic journey through the Midwest and his passion for understanding the historical roots of African societies and their place in the modern world.
