About this Event
Professor Ian Biddle explores some of the ways in which changing ways of thinking about the Holocaust reflect changes in our understanding of cultural, political and racial difference. There was a time where most of us believed in the usefulness of Holocaust education as a way of confronting the horrors of racism. But in recent years, bare-faced and uncensored racism has become a kind of norm of the political discourse. How then, do we teach, talk about and make sense of the Holocaust in this context? What changes must we make to our curricula and our pedagogical strategies to address these momentous (and terrifying) changes to public political discourse?
