(Rescheduled from a cancellation in June.)
The last program in this season’s Rockport Conservation Commission climate series at the Rockport Public Library will be held on Wednesday, August 28, at 6:00 p.m. The program entitled “Understanding Sea Level Rise in Rockport Harbor” was inspired by the recent storm events in January and March which highlighted the urgent need for increased awareness and action in coastal resilience planning.
Bill Bow will discuss the science behind sea level rise, its tangible effects on our coastal communities, and what the future may hold for Rockport Harbor. This is an opportunity for residents and municipal leaders alike to gain insights into protecting the harbor and preparing for challenges ahead.
Bow joined the Rockport Conservation Commission in 2021 and serves as Vice Chair. He received his undergraduate degree in geology from Albion College in Michigan and his master's in glaciology from Ohio State University in 1982. He spent nearly eight years in Houston as a petroleum geologist during the 1980s and then over 30 years in environmental consulting before retiring in 2020. Bill Bow and his wife Nan relocated to Rockport in 2019.
