Join us for a luncheon with Dr. Michael Samis on understanding risks of mining project finance using dynamic cash flow modelling
About this Event

About the Presentation

Mining projects are financed using numerous methods, from traditional debt to alternative financing arrangements tied to metal prices. A project’s ability to fulfill its financing obligations is often assessed using static analytical techniques, which have difficulty assessing how financing distributes risk between the various project interests.

Dynamic cash flow modelling can provide insights into how financing distributes risk through simulation, finance theory, and risk management concepts. Mike will present an overview of mine financing methods and discuss the benefits of dynamic cash flow modelling.

Two case studies will show how commonly held assumptions about financing methods can be misleading if a financing proposal is not considered dynamically across a range of future possibilities. The ideas discussed in this presentation allow project owners and mine financiers to structure a financing package tailored to their needs and outlook.
