About this Event
Come and join us for a canine behaviour workshop at Cheltenham Animal Shelter! Resource guarding is when a dog becomes defensive in order to keep people, or other animals away from a particular resource. Resources can be food, treats, toys, beds, certain places, favourite items, and even a person.
This workshop is aimed at those who want to learn more about resource guarding and tips on how to manage this behaviour through practical and theory-based teaching brought to you by our behaviour team.
You will learn topics such as how to manage resource guarding behaviours, tips to prevent resource guarding behaviours worsening, advice on how to work with resouce guarding- and so much more!
You will also learn training techniques to help with resource guarding. The session will include demos with a rescue dog, however the dog participating will not be a resource guarder themselves. The session will include videos to demonstrate the body language of dogs while resource guarding.
This workshop will run for 2.5 hours (with refreshments provided!) and you will leave with an information pack which will include a special offer on one-to-one consultations with our behaviourists if you would like further help and support for your dog(s).
**Please note that unfortunately you are not permitted to bring your own dog(s) to this workshop**
Please note the talk aims to give an insight on resource guarding and ways to manage the behaviour. The workshop does not replace a 1-2-1 consultation which would be tailored specifically to your dog.
