This 3.5-hour workshop is meant to inform and educate citizens about various aspects of police use of force as it pertains to the Lenexa Police Department. Objectives include:-Overview of Lenexa PD policy and practices that relate to police use of force
-Overview of how Lenexa PD trains and equips officers for force encounters
-Defining "police use of force", including "deadly" and "less-lethal" force
-Overview of U.S. case law and constitutional authority relating to police use of force
In addition to the workshop, some attendees will have the opportunity to participate in realistic scenarios using the Lenexa Police Department firearms video simulator. This will take place during a scheduled time in advance of the workshop.
The workshop will be held at the Lenexa Justice Center located at 17371 Prairie Star Parkway. The workshop is free, however registration is required and attendees must be at least 18 years of age.
