Understanding, Healing, and Transforming Generational Patterns

We are all born into a family, a fascinating and a complex system of values, roles, patterns, expectations, boundaries, emotional dynamics, and loyalties. From a young age, we absorb our family’s ways of being in a world, develop healthy or unhealthy attachments with our caregivers, and learn no navigate internal family dynamics by developing certain coping skills. Many times, we do not question why things are the way they are, or it might be too painful to remember some experience with our mothers and fathers. We wish things were different and it hurts when we are unbale to find peace with loved ones and end up being in a conflict, discord, or are driven to cut off relationships with people closest to us.

In this interactive and experiential 2-day event, you will have an opportunity to:

· Dive deeper into your family’s emotional and mental dynamics to uncover hidden loyalties that continue to guide your decisions, behaviors, and views of self throughout life

· Understand yourself better as a human being who is also a part of a complex family system

· Engage in somatic exercises to transform and heal disowned emotions

· Create positive shifts in your relationships

· Tap into forgiveness and compassion to help you heal and release toxic thoughts and feelings

· Change unhealthy generational patterns by choosing to do things differently and by letting go of your own pain

· Participate in a supportive group dynamic where you are witnessed and accepted for all your pains and gains with opportunities for transformational emotional experiences.

We prepared a 2-day (6 hours total) experience that would allow for learning, experiencing, and integrating the material. This is deep work, and we do not believe that rushing through things or simply having a didactic workshop would be an effective way to make a difference in your life.

Day 1: Unveiling and Understanding Generational and Relational Dynamics in Your Family System

In my experience working with families, couples, and individuals as marriage and family therapist, I find that even when people report having a happy childhood and good relationships between family members, they still have attachment wounds, unhealthy patterns, and disowned emotions that were suppressed to help them function within the family system, and they subconsciously carry these patterns into their present romantic relationships and friendships. Only through awareness, understanding, acceptance, and compassion for self and others are we able to heal our wounds, shift unhealthy patterns, and possibly improve and repair our family relationships. Yes, it takes personal work and a closer look at who we are.

In this part of the retreat, participants will be introduced to Dr. Murray Bowen’s work, a pioneer in family therapy who believed that individuals cannot be understood in isolation from one another.

We will create personal generational diagrams called Genograms that will allow us to access our family’s emotional process overtime and track relational patterns. The goal is to use the Genogram to gain personal insights through our own introspective work as well as supportive feedback from the group.

In this part of the retreat, we invite you to experience how the family constellation method can support your ability to connect with your sacredness, compassion, and unconditional love for yourself and loved ones. Bert Hellinger, the Founder of Systemic Constellations, often said, "Peace begins in the soul." After many years of facilitation, I see how true that is!

The beauty of this work lies in the subtle, invisible field that we are all a part of. This field holds all of life, the deep wounds, and the profound bliss. It contains the memories of all your ancestors, the lifetimes of your soul’s journey, and the evolution of this planet.

As we tune into "The Knowing Field," the imprints and memories of our family system begin to unfold. This gentle yet powerful process reveals relational dynamics guided by our need to belong. Our conscience supports this need, often making us feel self-righteous when judging others, as it aligns with our family's unconscious imprint.

For example, our choice of partner is deeply influenced by this need to belong. Factors such as race, wealth, and intelligence are often dictated by what is approved within our family system. Some of us are guided to marry into wealth, others into poverty, or even to partners with specific traits like alcoholism. The roots and loyalty to our tribe are deeply embedded in our DNA, compelling us to adhere to its rules. This desire to belong can feel like imprisonment, energetically shackling us from our dreams. However, this too can change, allowing us to break free from these constraints.

During this experiential workshop you will be invited to look at the deeper relationship with your present family (husband, long term partners, x-partners, children, stepchildren) and family of origin (mom, dad, siblings, adopted siblings). The exercises will guide you deeper into the unspoken parts of your relationships to reveal the blind loyalties that have been silently limiting the fullness of your joy and happiness.

Irina Devi

Irina is a spiritual teacher, transformational coach, and MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist)

Irina offers private consultations and group teachings in supporting mind and body through somatic experiences, growth mindset aproaches, aromatherapy, movement, meditation, breathing techniques, and feminine embodiment practices to sustain overall joy and vitality. Her work has evolved into unique, holistic, and individualized approach to women’s emotional and physical wellbeing across lifespan stages, including pregnancy and menopause.

Mother of one, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and two Master's in Education and Family and Couple Therapy, certifications in Yoga, Taoist healing arts, and Tantric teachings. She lives and works in Manhattan, New York where she had founded her La Femme Rose spiritual women network. She organizes classes and monthly women gatherings in New York as well as women retreats around the world.

Rita Gendelman

Originally from Ukraine, immigrated with her family to New York City in 1990 and moved, and presently lives, on the Big Island of Hawaii since 2020. For the past 20 years Rita has trained with world renowned family constellation practitioners among them Suzi Tucker, Roberta Maria Attie, as well as Seeing with your Heart facilitators, Dan and Emily. Rita has been facilitating family constellations workshops since 2015, in New York City, Singapore, and the Big island of Hawaii. Through her facilitation, she has been able to support the family dynamics of parents children, and couples. Additionally, she has worked with family dynamics connected war, genocide, and mental illness.
