Understanding cognition and MS: Key strategies to manage Webinar (LWUK)

“Cognition” refers to memory and thinking. Trouble with memory and thinking can affect people with MS. It describes the way we concentrate and focus. How we multitask, and the way we learn and remember new things. It can also be how we plan and carry out activities, reason, and solve problems.

Join us to learn more about cognition, the impact MS can have on it, and key management strategies.

Speakers:

• Lauren Taylor, Clinical Psychology PhD student – As part of the team at the University of Nottingham, Lauren is researching cognitive rehabilitation which focuses on giving people knowledge and information about their cognitive problems – like memory and thinking. She’s also part of the NEuRoMS project, which hopes to change how cognitive MS symptoms are managed.
• Laura, Wellbeing Facilitator – passionate about diversity and inclusion and will be sharing her lived experience of MS and cognition. She’ll be sharing the practical strategies she’s put in place to manage her cognition on a daily basis while navigating family life and work.

• Impact MS can have on cognition.
• Key strategies to manage your cognition.

You’ll learn more about the strategies you can put in place to help you manage your cognition and MS which can help you in everyday life at home and at work. The speakers will offer a perfect mix of research, practical tips, and lived experience.

Our webinars offer a safe, fact-based space that you can attend anonymously. These events are for anyone affected by MS; whether you are living with MS, a friend, family member, carer or colleague of someone living with MS, or a healthcare professional. Our webinars are recorded and we send a copy out to all those who register.

What will I need to take part?

All you need to join in is a laptop/tablet/phone/computer with a stable internet connection to use Zoom, the video meeting software that we use.

How do I join the webinar?

Before the event, you'll receive emails from the LivingWell team and Eventbrite, which will have the link to the webinar. You can follow this link when the webinar is due to start. Alternatively, you can access it through your Eventbrite account.

When I join the webinar can other people see or hear me?

No, you can’t be seen or heard by other participants.

Can I ask questions?

Yes, you’ll be able to ask questions when you register but also during the event via the Q&A typed chat function. Please note we can’t respond or offer advice to questions about your specific circumstances or anything relating to your own personal health.

What if I haven’t been sent the link?

Reminder emails are sent to everyone who completes the registration form on Eventbrite and books a place, so please enter your email address carefully when registering. The email we send might go into your spam or junk folder so please check before the sessions start that you can find it. Alternatively, you can access the link by logging into your Eventbrite account.

What should I do if I can no longer attend?

Don't worry if you can't make it on the night. If you've registered, you'll get a recording of the webinar to watch in your own time.
