Are you a caregiver or loved one of a child or teen with OCD, or work with kids with OCD and their families as a mental health provider or school staff?
Join us on October 24, 8:30–11:30 AM at the Central Iowa Center for Independent Living (3420 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy, Suite 200, Des Moines, IA 50310) for a low-cost community training sponsored by River Roots Mental Health & Wellness Center.
You’ll learn:
+ What OCD looks like in kids and teens
+ Brain‑based understanding of OCD
+ Practical tools for home and school
+ How to talk with teachers and schools about OCD
+ We’ll also show the 25‑minute documentary “Unstuck”
+ Followed by a live Q&A panel
Our panel features: Andrea Brown and Tatum Vemeer, Andrea and Tatum will share their experiences with having OCD in childhood and take questions from the audience
Andrea Brown is from Des Moines and is the author of "OCD Hiding in Plain Sight"
Tatum Vermeer, is from Des Moines and is a new therapist at River Roots. She is also a former tutor at Aspire Academy. She will be sharing her story of childhood OCD and will also share school‑support strategies for OCD kids
Cost:
$20 – One Adult family member or caregiver
$30 – Two adults attending together
A limited number of scholarships are available for family members who cannot afford the fee. Email [email protected] to inquire.
$20 - For professionals
$40 - If you are a professional requesting a certificate of attendance for CEUs
