About this Event
Creating and maintaining habitat is a key part of fostering biodiversity in our green spaces.
Using the Community Garden behind St. Barnabas Church as our example and playground, you will have the opportunity to learn about urban habitats for birds and bats. Weβre looking forward to hearing about how you are fostering biodiversity in your own projects. We won't be building any boxes this time around, but learn how to make you garden welcoming, and practice maintaining existing habitats on site.
What weβll cover:
- Learning the ecological value of urban habitats
- Exploring creative ways to (re-use) found and local materials
- Talk through approaches habitat creation for a range of species often found in urban gardens
- Learn how to clean and care for boxes
- Connecting with other gardeners and land stewards who care about urban biodiversity
- Tour of the Core Lanscapes Community Garden
What you'll need:
- Weather apppropriate clothes
