About this Event
Autoimmune diseases now affect over 10% of the American population—a number that continues to rise each year. These complex conditions occur when the immune system becomes dysregulated and begins attacking the body’s own healthy tissues. But what causes this loss of immune tolerance, and how can we address it holistically? In this essential 90-minute in-person workshop, Registered Herbalist Dana Hutchinson, RH (AHG)—lead medical practitioner and clinic owner of The Wildflower Clinic—will explore the root causes of autoimmunity through a clinical, Eastern medicine-based lens. Drawing from both modern immunology and traditional Chinese medicine, Dana will outline common autoimmune symptoms, diagnostic pathways, and comprehensive herbal protocols used in clinical practice.
Topics will include:
- Underlying mechanisms driving immune dysregulation
- Clinical patterns seen in conditions such as Crohn's Disease, Celiac, Hashimoto’s, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lichen Sclerosus, and more
- Herbal therapeutics for inflammation modulation, immune regulation, and tissue repair
- The role of gut integrity, food triggers, and environmental factors in autoimmunity
- Foundational lifestyle and nutritional interventions to support long-term immune balance
This class is designed for individuals managing autoimmune conditions, as well as practitioners and students seeking to deepen their understanding of integrative immune support. Even if you do not have a diagnosed autoimmune condition, this class will offer critical insights into the triggers and imbalances that underlie many chronic immune-related disorders. A comprehensive class handout is included in the registration fee.
Dana Hutchinson, MA, RH (AHG), BCMH, is the practice owner and lead medical herbalist at the Wildflower Clinic, a traditional Chinese medicine, Western clinical herbalism, and energetic healing health center in Golden, Colorado. As a registered herbalist with the American Herbalist Guild (AHG), Dana specializes in complex chronic autoimmune conditions, long-term inflammatory presentations, and complex emotional trauma cases. Dana’s clinical approach toward understanding and addressing the underlying triggers of a condition stems from her first-hand experience with managing her own "uncurable" autoimmune illness, Lichen Sclerosus (LS), finding remission, and helping over 500 + women reach immune system homeostasis today. Dana has extensive training in TCM diagnostic assessment, where she interprets the tongue, pulse, nails, and skin of her clients in order to find underlying root imbalances. She is a faculty member at Herbal Academy and the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism, in addition to being a regular conference presenter at IHS, AHG, Good Medicine, and more. Dana’s lineage descends from AAIP with a Hawaiian-Chinese heritage, and in her free time, she enjoys hiking, backcountry skiing, and lying in the sun!
