About this Event

Understanding and Responding to Mass Incarceration (URMI) returns in 2023 with the theme of Youth Justice: Changing the Narrative.


Topics will include historical and personal trauma, the school-to-Pr*son pipeline and prosecution of youth as adults, as well as options for response such as community prevention, restorative practices, mentorship, and alternatives to incarceration.


With keynote address by Malaika Eban, Deputy Director of the Legal Rights Center.


The annual URMI conference—now in its tenth year—is free and open to university staff, faculty, and students, as well as external community members. Stay tuned for conference agenda, panelists, and more!
