Advance Care Planning
Presenter: Stephanie Van Slyke, MBE, RN, HEC-C
Before our Congregation invests in a defibrillator, the importance of understanding your wishes as it relates to cardiac resuscitation, is necessary. We have planned two sessions with Stephanie to help us as we figure out how to move forward with knowledge, autonomy and respect for each of us.
WHEN: Monday, April 29 at 7:00pm at the UUCGT sanctuary or Sunday, May 12 after the service (noon)
What you can expect:
1) Discussions about the importance of Advance Care Planning (ACP) and why everyone 18 and older should have a written plan.
2) Identifying how MI law impacts your healthcare decisions, DNR orders and CPR.
3) Differentiating between ACP documents, such as advance directive, durable powers of attorney for health, and Do-Not-Resuscitate (DNR) orders.
4) Discussions around DNR as it relates to the use of a defibrillator or CPR in the congregation.
