UNDER THE SEA PLUSH ADVENTURE CAMP
w/ Izabela Zdunek
Dive into an underwater adventure with our "Under the Sea" camp! Over three exciting days, young marine scientists will unleash their creativity to design and craft their very own unique plush fish. Imagine a vibrant sea filled with realistic or fantastical fish, all brought to life by our campers' imaginations!
Tuesday: Dive into Discovery!
We'll kick off our exploration by plunging into the fascinating world of fish! We'll discuss the incredible variety of fish species and the amazing features they possess, from shimmering scales to unique fins. After an inspiring brainstorming session, each camper will sketch the silhouette of their dream fish and transform it into a sturdy stencil. Then, using their stencils, they'll carefully outline their creature's shape onto two layers of soft fabric, ready to bring their vision to life.
Wednesday: Stitch, Stuff, and Sparkle!
Today, we'll learn the simple techniques of stitching (5-7 years old will use fabric glue for a no-sew option) to join the fabric layers and then fill our fish with fluffy stuffing, giving them a cuddly form. The real fun begins as campers choose from a treasure trove of dazzling decorations! Will their fish have sparkling gems, shimmering scales, playful googly eyes, feathery fins, or painted patterns? The possibilities are as vast as the ocean itself!
Thursday: Finishing Touches and Ocean Showcase!
We'll dedicate our final day to perfecting every last detail of our plush creations, ensuring each fish is a true masterpiece. If time allows, our budding artists will collaborate to paint a breathtaking ocean scene on a large canvas. This vibrant backdrop will serve as the perfect setting for a fantastic photo opportunity, showcasing their newly created schools of plushie fish!
