Ithaca-based Moxy Rock band Maddy Walsh & The Blind Spots will be joining The Cherry for a winter residency the first four Saturdays in January 2026! The series is called Under the Covers with The Blind Spots, and each week, alongside a full set of original music, the band will be performing two to three new cover songs and recording them live for a full album of covers by the same name: Under the Covers with The Blind Spots, Live at the Cherry!
Package ticket to all four shows: https://ci.ovationtix.com/35407/store/packages/150013
Ticket link to the 1/3/26 show only: https://ci.ovationtix.com/35407/production/1257165?performanceId=11721248
These are early shows (doors open at 5pm, and music begins at 5:30pm), kids are welcome and are free under 12 years old, and fans are encouraged to dress like they’re at home and even bring blankets (“covers”—see what we did there?) Since winter in New York, especially post-holidays, can be an isolating and dark time, the band’s aim is to provide a comfortable space for community members to gather with friends and be uplifted by music, while also feeling cozy like you’re at home.
Each week the band will also be featuring a different guest artist, who will perform a short opening set and then join the band for a couple songs:
1/3 Pierce Walsh
1/10 Hollings
1/17 Max Childs
1/24 Sorry Janey (Calya Lea and Margaret Harper)
FEATURED ARTIST PIERCE WALSH:
Pierce is a soulful Americana singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Ithaca who has long collaborated with multi-instrumentalist composer and performer Evan Horne (Tenzin Chopak), Nate Richardson (of John Brown's Body, Sim Redmond Band, The Makers, Samite, etc.; also, owner and engineer at REP Studios), and more recently with bassist Brian Dozoretz as well as singer-songwriters Uniit Carruyo and Rowan Drake, arguably some of Ithaca's most formidable musicians, all of whom are drawn to Pierce for the undeniably soothing timbre of his voice, his introspective and emotionally raw lyricism, and his gentle and down-to-earth demeanor. Pierce also happens to be Maddy's first cousin, and the two grew up on the same magical piece of land in Freeville, so expect swoon-worthy blood harmonies from this first collaboration in the series.

In the spirit of cultivating deeper community bonds through accessible and all-inclusive shows, and as a way of saying “Thank you for all you do for our community—we’re happy you’re here,” the band will be offering up to 20 free tickets to members of the following groups.
Jan 3 – Teachers / educators
Jan 10 – High school students
Jan 17 – Staff / volunteers at both Planned Parenthood and The Southside Community Center
Jan 24 – Local performing/gigging musicians *
*For your free tickets to the show, email [email protected] with FREE TICKETS in the subject line, and simply send us your first and last name and how you’re affiliated with the organization of the week. Again, these comped tickets will be capped at 20, so we’ll post on the event pages and social media when we’ve reached the 20 ticket limit.
There will be wine, beer, NAs, and snacks for sale.
Don’t spend the first four Saturdays of 2026 at home doom-scrolling and confirming to Netflix that yes, you’re still watching. Community is EVERYTHING, especially now, and we are fortunate to belong to such a special one. Join us for this one-time-only experience and be a part of recorded history!
*The band still has in its back pocket an unreleased full-length album of original music (no formal release date yet, sorry!) and continues to pride itself on its songwriting and catalog of original material; MW&TBS are not, by any means, becoming a tribute band. But performing songs by other artists is a loving form of paying homage, and if you’re already a Blind Spots fan, we hope it’ll be a surprising delight to hear their unique take on some songs you recognize from other places.
