Brazilian filmmaker Paula Gaitán has developed a unique experimental portraiture. Her documentary film Sutis Interferências is devoted to Arto Lindsay, an interdisciplinary artist who has stood at the intersection of music and visual arts for more than four decades. Gaitán borrows the interference motif from Arto Lindsay’s music and translates it into cinema. As in all her films, Gaitán explores her subject matter with a gaze that is as tender as precise, unfolding her exceptional sense for sound.

The interdisciplinary event series Uncommon Grounds brings together three current Music & Sound division fellows: DJ, collector, and multidisciplinary artist Robert Machiri (one half of the duo Listening at Pungwe); sound artist, electroacoustic performer, and radio producer Yara Mekawei; and multi-instrumentalist, improviser, and sound researcher Zsolt Sőrés. Uniting these three distinct musicians are an interdisciplinary approach and interest in collaboration. For their world premiere, this uncommon trio will explore the outer boundaries of their musical languages and the points where they supersede their common ground.
Before and after the concert, works by Shadi Habib Allah, Pallavi Paul (Nayi Kheti/New Harvest, 2013), Alicja Rogalska (Dark Fibres, 2021) are on view at the daadgalerie. Therefore, the doors already open at 6 pm.

Die brasilianische Filmemacherin Paula Gaitán hat eine einzigartige Form des experimentellen Portraits entwickelt. Ihr Dokumentarfilm Sutis Interferências ist Arto Lindsay gewidmet, einem interdisziplinären Künstler, der sich seit über vier Jahrzehnten an der Schnittstelle von Musik und bildender Kunst bewegt. Gaitán entleiht das Motiv der Überlagerung aus dem musikalischen Werk von Arto Lindsay und übersetzt es ins Filmische. Wie in all ihren Filmen erkundet Gaitán ihr Sujet mit einem ebenso zärtlichen wie präzisen Blick und entfaltet dabei ihr außergewöhnliches Gespür für Klang.

Für die interdisziplinäre Reihe Uncommon Grounds kommen drei aktuelle Fellows der Sparte Musik & Klang zusammen: der DJ, Sammler und multidisziplinäre Künstler Robert Machiri (eine Hälfte des Duos Listening at Pungwe), die Klangkünstlerin, elektroakustische Performerin und Radiomacherin Yara Mekawei und der Multiinstrumentalist, Improvisator und Klangforscher Zsolt Sőrés. Die drei unterschiedlichen MusikerInnen vereint ihr interdisziplinärer Ansatz und ihr Interesse an Kollaborationen. In der Weltpremiere dieses ungewöhnlichen Trios werden sie ausloten, wie weit sich ihre Klangsprachen aufeinander einlassen können und ab wann sie ihren gemeinsamen Boden verlassen.
Vor und nach der Veranstaltung sind die Installationen von Shadi Habib Allah, Pallavi Paul (Nayi Kheti/New Harvest, 2013), Alicja Rogalska (Dark Fibres, 2021) zu sehen. Der Einlass ist deshalb bereits um 18:00 Uhr.
