Join the conversation about a book published in 1852 that remains controversial 173 years later. Dr. Getz, Professor Emeritus in the Department of English at Xavier University, will be here in person to discuss Uncle Tom’s Cabin. We will explore how and why it was written, share iconic characters, pirated versions, & the book’s revival today by feminist critics. Participants will decide for themselves how powerful Harriet Beecher Stowe’s voice speaks to us and the issues we face today.
