Join Bristol Anti-Repression Campaign for a screening of Riots Reframed, and discussion about state and media responses to uprisings. As K*ll the Bill arrestees continue to face demonisation and harsh prison sentences, how can we respond and keep taking action?
Speakers will include Global Women's Strike, Bristol Anti Repression Campaign, D Hunter (author of Chav Solidarity) and a previous K*ll The Bill prisoner.
RIOTS REFRAMED takes the viewer through a journey that begins in
Tottenham, London—where 29-year old Mark Duggan was shot dead by police in 2011—and spirals out to a broader and deeper look into the role of police, power, racism, government, prison, and resistance.
While providing an analysis of the Tottenham Riots, the scope of RIOTS REFRAMED is much wider and stands in its own right as a poetic but fierce challenge to the carceral system under which we live. The result is a radical social commentary grounded in knowledge and art, that synthesises a number of voices—from prominent social, cultural and political analysts, to ex-prisoners, still recovering from time inside.
