UNCG’s collaborative faculty-student septet presents the music of multi-instrumentalist and composer Yusef Lateef! From Detroit, he made his name as the third wind voice in the sextet of brothers Nat and Cannonball Adderley, and was credited with over 60 albums as a leader. Lateef’s unique woodwind style on saxophones, oboe, flute, and many other non-Western instruments was perfectly suited to his several hundred original compositions. Spartan Jazz Collective presents Mr. Lateef’s music in a unique woodwind-heavy lineup – including oboe and flute! – that will leave you searching for more music by this unsung hero of American music.* * * * * * *
Tickets are $12 Adults and $9 Seniors, Military, Students.
