Perfectly cast, THE ROCK features ED Harris as a retired and disgruntled US Marine General (Ed Harris) who procures a stockpile of chemical weaponry and takes over the notorious Alcatraz–aka “The Rock.” To neutralize the threat to national security and San Francisco tourism, the NAVY SEALS call in FBI chemical warfare expert Dr. Stanley Goodspeed (Nicolas Cage) and former Alcatraz escapee Captain Mason (Sean Connery) to infiltrate. The chemistry between Connery and Cage is cinematic perfection and lends the stunt-laden, over the top action extravaganza its delicate humour and wit. Featuring an epic car chase sequence through the streets of San Francisco with Cage behind the wheel of a Ferrari and Connery commandeering a Humvee, THE ROCK delivers every action spectacle the mid-90s could throw the audience's way.
