Un-Shuttered: LGBTQ+ Histories Hidden in Plain Sight
About this Event
Free LGBTQ+ Photography, Zine-Making & Storytelling Workshops
Join Radiate Arts for Un-Shuttered - a creative heritage project exploring LGBTQ+ histories, identity, memory and belonging across Chester through photography, storytelling and collaborative zine-making.
Across 6 photography workshops, participants will explore Chester through creative image-making, capturing places, details and moments connected to personal experiences, community and LGBTQ+ heritage. Following this, participants will take part in 4 zine-making and storytelling workshops where we will work together to select photographs, share reflections, explore oral history and create a collaborative printed zine.
All materials and photography equipment can be provided, and our friendly team will guide you throughout the project. No previous photography or creative experience is needed - beginners are very welcome.
When: Weekly workshops across 10 sessions
Where: Outdoor photography sessions will begin and reconvene at Rainbow Tea Rooms and some at Radiate Arts, check listing for details. Indoor zine-making and storytelling sessions will take place at Radiate Arts.
This is a welcoming and inclusive space open to LGBTQ+ people and allies aged 18 and over. Participants will have the opportunity to meet like-minded people, develop creative skills and contribute towards a public exhibition and collective zine celebrating LGBTQ+ stories and heritage in Chester.
Free tea and coffee will be available during indoor sessions.
We strive to make our space and activities as accessible as possible. For more information about accessibility and facilities, visit Radiate Arts Access & Facilities or contact us at [email protected] or 01244 267806.
