Based on the celebrated novel by Alfredo Bryce Echenique, Un mundo para Julius (2021) is a moving coming-of-age drama written and directed by Rossana Díaz Costa, exploring childhood, privilege and the loss of innocence in Peruvian society.

Synopsis

Julius is a young boy growing up in an aristocratic family in 1950s Lima, surrounded by wealth, comfort and a large household staff. As he observes the adults around him and forms close bonds with the people who care for him, he gradually begins to recognize the inequalities and injustices that shape his world. Based on Alfredo Bryce Echenique’s classic novel, Un mundo para Julius is a tender and thought-provoking portrait of childhood innocence confronted by class divisions and social reality.

Directed by Rossana Díaz Costa and starring Rodrigo Barba, Augusto Linares, Fiorella de Ferrari and Mayella Lloclla, Un mundo para Julius won the Premios Luces for Best Film, Best Actor and Best Actress, and was nominated for the Gaudí Award for Best Television Film.
