UMKC Dental Hygiene Shadowing

The shadowing experience allows prospective students the opportunity to sit chair-side while a senior dental hygiene student treats patients. Students may shadow in the general clinic or specialty clinics within the school when available.

Dress Code & Arrival:

Students must arrive for shadowing by 1 pm for the afternoon session. You will not be able to shadow if it is past 1 pm when you arrive.

The dress code is business casual. No open-toed shoes or jeans are permitted. Socks are required. Long hair must be pulled back. Scrubs are also acceptable. Please do not wear strong smelling perfumes, colognes, lotions, etc. as these can cause headaches or allergic reactions for our patients.

Please cancel your shadowing appointment if you are exhibiting any symptoms of illness such as sneezing, coughing, etc, or have been in contact with someone diagnosed with Covid19 within the past 14 days.

Parking passes are available for non-UMKC students. Parking passes can be acquired from the Office of Student Programs on the 4th floor, suite 420. It is the first office to your right when you come off the elevator.

Visitor parking is located in parking lot 68 on 25th Street between Campbell and Charlotte. If this lot is full, visitors should utilize city street parking. Note that most street parking is metered and patrolled.

Once parked, please sign in at the Office of Student Programs, located on the 4th floor.
