Rökkrið yljarHljómsveitin Umbra Ensemble er skipuð tónlistarkonunum Alexöndru Kjeld, Arngerði Maríu Árnadóttur, Guðbjörgu Hlín Guðmundsdóttur og Lilju Dögg Gunnarsdóttur en þær hafa í sameiningu skapað sinn eigin hljóðheim sem þykir hafa þjóðlegan, fornan blæ með dimmum undirtón.
Yrkisefni fyrri tíma þar sem þjáning, synd og breyskleika mannsins er ekki af skornum skammti, hvort sem litið er til Íslands eða annarra landa. Umbra skapar stund í tónum og tali þar sem sjónum er beint að örlögum og raunum. Myrkur og dulúðleiki fær hér að streyma fram í tónlistinni og kafað verður ofan sagnaarf og ljóð fyrri alda.Allar útsetningar eru eftir Umbru.
Creeping darkness
Umbra Ensemble is composed of the musicians Alexandra Kjeld, Arngerður María Árnadóttir, Guðbjörg Hlín Guðmundsdóttir, and Lilja Dögg Gunnarsdóttir. Together they have created their own sonic world—a soundscape considered to have a folk-like, ancient character with dark undertones.
Their repertoire draws on themes from times past, when suffering, sin, and human frailty were never in short supply, whether one looks to Iceland or other lands. Umbra creates a moment with music and words where attention is directed to destinies and tribulations. Here, darkness and mystique flow freely through the music, and the narrative heritage and poetry of bygone centuries are delved into. All arrangements are by Umbra.
