Join us Friday June 6th, in the Arts Court Atelier Studio, for our 15th anniversary season closer open mic and poetry slam, featuring Canadian Spoken Word and Poetry veteran, Rusty Priske!Masks required and COVID screening will be in place. Sign up for the slam or short open mic portion of the event is now open! Message us on any of our socials or send us an email at [email protected] to secure your spot. Poets who sign up to perform are not required to buy a ticket.
If, for any reason, you are not able to buy a ticket but wish to attend, please let us know and we will add you to the list (unless tickets are sold out).

67 Nicholas is the accessible entrance for Arts Court. Then take elevator B to Level 1, then turn left to Elevator A to Level 2, and head right down the hall and the Atelier is the door at the end.

Rusty Priske is a veteran of Canadian Spoken Word and Poetry. He has been on eight National Slam teams, including the 2017 National Slam Championship team. His work has appeared on 8 CDs, many chapbooks, a handful of periodicals, two full-length books, and the Mansfield Press book, ‘Another Dysfunctional Cancer Poem Anthology’.
He has performed coast-to-coast, including as part of the Caravaggio exhibit at the National Gallery and with members of the Vancouver Opera Company.
Rusty was the Slam Master at Capital Slam for over a decade while being the Spoken Word Canada National Slam Master for nearly as long. He is a former President of the Arc Poetry Society, a former Spoken Word Editor for Arc Poetry Magazine, and the founder of the VERSeOttawa Hall of Honour.
In 2018 Rusty was presented with the Zaccheus Jackson Nyce Memorial Award for his contributions to the Canadian Spoken Word community.
