About this Event
Join us for a warm and welcoming cultural experience celebrating Ukrainian Easter traditions through the beautiful art of pysanka — decorative eggs created using an ancient wax-resist technique.
Recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, pysanka is a unique folk art passed through generations, rich in symbolism and meaning. During this workshop, you will discover the stories behind the tradition while creating your own designs to take home.
This experience is not only about creativity, but also about connection — bringing people together, sharing culture, and enjoying a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
We are also proud to support Convoy4Ukraine, helping deliver humanitarian aid to those in need.
No experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to try something new.
What to Expect
The workshop will begin with a short introduction to the history, symbolism, and cultural meaning of pysanka, followed by a live demonstration of the traditional wax-resist technique by an experienced tutor.
You will then create your own designs step-by-step, with individual guidance and support throughout the process.
The workshop will be delivered in English by an experienced bilingual tutor fluent in both English and Ukrainian.
Each participant will receive two prepared eggshells and will create two finished pysanka decorations to take home.
Who This Workshop Is For
This workshop is suitable for adults and beginners, whether you attend individually, with friends, or as a family. No previous artistic experience is required.
Participants aged 14+ may attend independently.
Children aged 6–14 must be accompanied and supervised by a participating adult at all times, with full responsibility remaining with the accompanying adult.
Refreshments
As part of the experience, participants will be invited to taste traditional Ukrainian sweet festive bake (paska) and enjoy herbal tea from Ukraine, offering a flavour of Ukrainian Easter traditions.
A small Easter market will also be available, offering Ukrainian handmade goods, festive treats, and gifts. Visitors are welcome to browse and purchase even without attending the workshop.
