Ukraine's Independence Anniversary: American-Ukrainian Community Picnic
About this Event
Join us on Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Great Neck Park, Shelter #3, Virginia Beach, as we come together to honor 35 years of Ukraine's independence, a milestone rooted in centuries of history, culture, and an unbreakable spirit.
This year also marks a special milestone for us: TUCA's 30th picnic! Three decades of community, tradition, and togetherness.
This year's celebration goes beyond tradition. Alongside our beloved picnic gathering, we're proud to introduce:
The Borshch Battle: a lively culinary competition celebrating Ukraine's most iconic dish. Bring your best recipe, represent your family's tradition, and compete for bragging rights!
Regional Pavilions: explore Ukraine's rich cultural tapestry through pavilions representing different regions, each showcasing its own folk arts, crafts, and traditions. A true journey across Ukraine, all in one afternoon.
Also on the program:
- Music
- Photo zone
- Raffles
- Guest speakers
- And more surprises throughout the day
All are welcome! This is a celebration for the entire community.
Come to commemorate this significant chapter in Ukraine's history, and, most importantly, to stand together in continued support of Ukraine, its resilient people, and its brave defenders.
This is a potluck picnic, so please bring a dish to share and a drink for your family and friends to enjoy.
Admission:
