This event marks the electrifying 4-year anniversary of UKG Proper’s SoundCloud page!
What began as an offshoot of Drum and Bass Proper, UKG Proper was founded by DJ S2PS with the mission of bringing the unmistakable sounds of UK Garage, 4x4, 2 Step, and Bassline to a global audience. Over the years, we’ve showcased some incredible international talent through our weekly mix posts, cultivating a vibrant community on SoundCloud.
In August 2024, we elevated our vision with the launch of our monthly "Colours" series, a meticulously curated experience aimed at infusing Denver with the raw energy of authentic UK Garage while introducing the Bass Capital to the full spectrum of this dynamic genre. This marked a pivotal moment as resident DJ CB₁ took center stage, delivering an unforgettable set at the iconic underground venue, The Black Box. There, we have the honor of sharing our sound with a dedicated and passionate crowd, creating a celebration that resonated with innovation, energy, and the unmistakable rhythms of the UK Garage scene.
Kicking off the evening, we have the talented Josh Triton, followed by a crew tag session featuring the esteemed UKG Proper resident DJs. To close out the night, we’re in for a special treat with a two-hour set from the local legend, Tommy B.
Tommy B's journey in music began in the late 1990s when he first immersed himself in speed garage. A true pioneer of the genre in Colorado, he was the first to introduce this distinctive sound to the region's most prominent clubs, including Vinyl, Church, and Beta. His unique style was instantly recognizable, and clubgoers would know who was playing as soon as they approached the dancefloor.
Tommy B's influence extended beyond Colorado; he made history as the first American to perform in the heart of garage music – Sheffield, Birmingham, and Leeds in the UK. His passion for the genre has taken him on an unexpected and remarkable journey.
Currently, Tommy B is bringing speed garage to the forefront of the Vegas music scene, where he continues to innovate by integrating the sound into his sets. As a trailblazer on one of the largest platforms in the industry, he's signed to one of the world’s most prominent talent agencies. His performances in Vegas are groundbreaking, as no other DJ has played speed garage in the major clubs he graces.
With a career that spans decades, many regard Tommy B as an OG of the genre and have even dubbed him the "Godfather of Garage Music" in Colorado.
