Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles has volunteer and internship opportunities!

We host weekly new-volunteer orientations via Zoom or in-person and they are open to everyone. If you can find a date here on Eventbrite that works for you, sign up! Here are some current volunteer opportunities:

• Community Outreach: get out in the community and help distribute information about how people can take advantage our services and support Uhuru Furniture!
• In-store furniture movers: Get physical with our operations team and help move, stack and organize furniture and home goods!
• Sales Assistants: Are you a friendly person who enjoys helping people? If so, you'd be a great addition to our sales team! Greet and assist customers, let them know about our sales and policies, help them measure or find items. Are you a Spanish-speaker? Our warehouse is located in the beautiful Fruitvale neighborhood and we're looking for folks who can help us give the best possible service to our Spanish-speaking customers there!
• Artists: Calling all artists! Help us paint furniture and incorporate traditional African designs into the items as part of our "NZO: African Designs at Home and Abroad" furniture line. Recover chairs with beautiful African fabric.
• Marketing and promotions: Join this dynamic team updating all our online channels and helping let more people know about Uhuru Furniture!
• Grant Writers / Researcher: Assist in finding funding opportunities, researching eligibility and writing grant applications.
• Donor Appreciation Team: Help send thank you cards, special emails and thank you gifts to our wonderful donors!
• Art Pricer: We're looking for someone who has some knowledge with framed art to come in and help us price art pieces.
