We will meet on the Channel-facing patio at UCSB’s beautiful Marine Science Research Buildings at the end of Lagoon Road. Directions: From downtown Santa Barbara, head for the UCSB turnoff on 101. (There may be some construction so be alert for a detour going past the airport and on to campus through its main gate).
Once you are on campus, head for Lagoon Rd that runs along the Channel-facing cliffs until you come to Lot 6 on the ocean side. It (and other UCSB parking is open to visitors on Saturdays.
Go to the right in Lot 6 and drive to the farthest available space. Parking fees are reduced on Saturdays (or free). Walk about half a block along towards the end of Lagoon Rd to a large white building. There are stairs to the left to a patio overlooking the channel — the campus and mountains will be behind you. We’ll meet on the patio. From there you’ll find a dozen vistas from which to sketch.
