Join us in our bicentenary year for the UCL200 Dementia Research Showcase.
Meet UCL researchers, take part in interactive exhibits, and understand more about how the brain works. The showcase will explore research from across the university via hands-on activities, games, visual displays and art works, including designing dementia-friendly environments, looking at the potential of ultra-fast MRI scans in dementia diagnosis and understanding stem-cell research.
Find out more about how new dementia medicines are discovered, how we can detect dementia before symptoms appear, how artificial intelligence can help us beat dementia, how much our everyday habits really affect brain health, and look at how researchers and communities are working together to improve life with dementia.
Suitable for all ages and interests – from school children, students and people working in the field to people with lived experience of dementia and their families, we hope to provide an opportunity to learn more about ground-breaking dementia research at UCL and its impact – past, present and future.
The showcase will finish with a screening of the BBC documentary The Jennings vs Alzheimer's, at 33 Queen Square, which explores the discoveries made by researchers at UCL and University College London Hopsitals that have given hope for Alzheimer’s disease over the past four decades, and the very special family that helped make it happen.
This will be followed by a Q&A session with Stuart Jennings, Professor Nick Fox (Director of the UCL's Dementia Research Centre) and Professor Cath Mummery (Head of Clinical Trials at UCL's Dementia Research Centre).
