UCL EGA IfWH #IWD2026 Talk: Gender Differences in Women's Heart Health

UCL EGA Institute for Women's Health and UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science are delighted to present Gender Differences in Women's Heart Health, Talk and Q&A, as part of UCL's Women's History Month and UCL200.

Join us for an empowering and informative talk dedicated to women’s cardiovascular health. Attendees will learn about unique risk factors affecting women, lifestyle strategies that support long-term heart health, and will feature presentations from Dr Gaby Captur and Dr Sara Moscatelli from UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science, followed by an audience Q&A.

Dr Gaby Captur - Misdiagnosed: An Epidemic in Women with Cardiovascular Disease. Gaby will discuss the differences in primary prevention, imaging, and chest pain presentations.

Dr Sara Moscatelli - Sex Differences in Cardiovascular Development and Disease in Childhood.

About the Speakers

Dr Gaby Captur is a consultant cardiologist sub-specialised in cardiomyopathy and advanced cardiac imaging, following training in general cardiology. She is the Clinical Lead for the Inherited Cardiac Conditions Service at the Royal Free London and is also Associate Professor at UCL's Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing and the Institute of Cardiovascular Science. Gaby trained in Cardiology and sub-specialised in Inherited Cardiac Conditions at the Heart Hospital London, UCLH, Barts Heart Centre, Royal London Hospital and Whittington Hospitals between 2010 and 2018, including experience at the US National Institutes of Health and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. Gaby was awarded the American Heart Association Council on Cardiovascular Radiology and Intervention Prize in 2013.

Dr Sara Moscatelli is a cardiologist currently specialising in paediatric cardiology. She is working as a PhD student at UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science under the supervision of Prof. Juan A. Kaski, with a research project focused on arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathies in the paediatric population. Since her cardiology training, she has developed a strong interest in gender medicine and is deeply committed to promoting gender equality, women’s rights, and fighting discrimination against women.

This is a hybrid event and pre-booking is essential. The event will take place at Theobald Lecture Theatre, 86-96 Chenies Mews, London, WC1E 6HX.
