UC Berkeley Foerster Lectures with Sudipta Kaviraj on The Search for Paradise
About this Event

Join Sudipta Kaviraj, a Columbia University Professor of Indian Politics and Intellectual History for a lecture on The Search for Paradise.

Colonial history and social science habituated Indians intellectuals to two prejudices. This lecture contests both these prejudices by using an analysis of two great traditions of Indian aesthetic-social philosophy: the Upanishads, and Vaisnava theology and poetry. This work is part of a decolonizing project—an endeavor that the lecturer deems both collective and personal.

This in-person event will be held at Alumni House, Toll Room on the UC Berkeley Campus. This event will follow evolving public health guidelines.
