UBC SCARP Symposium 2025

The theme of the 13th annual UBC SCARP Symposium 2025 is Pie in the Sky. You're invited to explore how planning ideas labelled "pie in the sky" can become tangible pathways for transformation. Symposium 2025 will bring together a diversity of professionals, students, and community leaders to explore ambitious, transformative ideas and envision aspirational futures for our cities. Together, we will tackle some of the most urgent challenges of our time, including climate change and the future of our planet, the need for affordable housing, and the pursuit of equity and justice in the planning profession.

The symposium will combine panels, lectures, workshops, and collaborative sessions, to encourage participants to use planning as a tool for creating bold, inclusive, and thriving communities, turning seemingly “impossible” ideas into practical possibilities.

Participants interested in attending our symposium can expect two keynote speakers, three breakout sessions with their choice of panel topics, facilitated workshops, and lectures focused on a variety of urban planning related topics.
