Vi inviterer dig til en unik workshop, der udforsker den rige tradition for grønlandsk maskedans, som stammer fra den gamle Inuit-religion. Denne fængslende dans indeholder livets tre essentielle elementer: det sjove, det skræmmende og det erotiske. I Uaajeerneq-dansen forbindes deltagerne med åndeverdenen, naturen og det mystiske.
I Uaajeerneq bærer hver danser en unik maske og bruger en mundpind, der forvrænger ansigtstrækene. Gennem bevægelse, stemme og humor skal danserne forføre og skræmme deres publikum. Denne form for udtryk indeholder klovnelementer og fremmer en dynamisk interaktion mellem performer og tilskuere.

Instruktør: Connie Kristoffersen
Connie Kristoffersen er født og opvokset i Grønland og er uddannet skuespiller fra The National Acting School of Greenland (2016). Siden 2014 har hun optrådt som maskedanser og holdt utallige Uaajeerneq-workshops både i Grønland og internationalt. Connie har medvirket i forskellige teaterstykker, tv-serier og film, og hun kan også tilføje tv- og podcastvært, festivalkoordinator og lærer ved The Commedia School til sit CV.

Uaajeerneq (Greenlandic Mask Dance) Workshop: January 24 - 27, 2025
We invite you to a unique workshop that explores the rich tradition of Greenlandic mask dancing, rooted in the ancient Inuit religion. This captivating dance embodies life’s three essential elements: joy, fear, and eroticism. In the Uaajeerneq dance, participants connect with the spirit world, nature, and the mystical.
In Uaajeerneq, each dancer wears a unique mask and uses a mouth stick that distorts their facial features. Through movement, voice, and humor, dancers must enchant and frighten their audience. This form of expression incorporates clowning elements and fosters a dynamic interaction between the performer and the spectators.
Workshop Highlights:
Learn about the history and traditions behind Uaajeerneq.
Create your own mouth stick and develop your own painted face.
Experience the thrill of scaring, seducing, and clowning while practicing the dance.
Instructor: Connie Kristoffersen
Connie Kristoffersen was born and raised in Greenland and is a trained actor from The National Acting School of Greenland (2016). Since 2014, she has performed as a mask dancer and conducted numerous Uaajeerneq workshops both in Greenland and internationally. Connie has appeared in various plays, TV series, and films, and she can also list TV and podcast host, festival coordinator, and teacher at The Commedia School on her CV.
